What
We Believe About Sin
1.
Sin is defined as a violation of God's infinite holiness or the breaking
of God's perfect holy standard.
2.
Sin's origin is traced back to Satan's rebellion against God (Ezekiel 28:15).
3.
The human race fell into sin when Adam, the first man, disobeyed God in
the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:6). The Bible teaches the truth of original
sin. By “original sin" we mean that sin's presence in the human race
had its beginnings with Adam's transgression. Adam's sin has been
imputed upon all mankind (Romans 5:12).
4.
Sin's presence in mankind has caused all men to be separated from God (Romans
3:23; Isaiah 59:2).
5.
Sin's presence in mankind has brought about a judicial verdict of death
for every man (Romans 5:12; 6:23). Death is defined as
a “separation”. In the Biblical context this “separation” refers
to the immaterial and material parts of man (physical death) and the separation
of mankind from relationship with God (spiritual death).
6.
The cure for man's sin can only be found in Christ (John 3:16).
