What
We Believe About God the Father
1.
The Father posses all the attributes of deity (Galatians 1:1).
2.
The Father is the begetter and sender of Christ (John 3:16).
3.
He is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 1:3).
4.
The Father is the author of decree (Ephesians 1:11). "God's
decree is one vast purpose which is comprised of many facets all of which
are united, and ultimately not influenced by either man nor angels." (Unpublished,
class notes, Dr. David Doherty Th.D., New Brunswick Bible Institute) God's
decree is certain and finds its origin in His good pleasure. How
are we to understand the relationship of human responsibility with the
decree of God? "God sovereignly decreed that man should be free to
exercise moral choice, and man from the beginning has fulfilled that decree
by making his choice between good and evil. When he chooses to do
evil, he does not thereby countervail the sovereign will of God but fulfills
it. Inasmuch as the eternal decree decided not which choice the man
should make but that he should be free to make it." (A. W. Tozer, The Knowledge
of the Holy, p. 117,118)
5.
He is the Father of all believers (Galatians 3:26).
6.
The Father chastens believers (Hebrews 12:5-10).
