What
We Believe About Jesus Christ
1.
The deity of Christ is seen in Colossians 1:15; John 1: 1; Philippians
2:6; 1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:3,8,9; and John 12:40,41 compare with Isaiah
6:1,10. Jesus Christ has always been and always will be the Son of
God (Micah 5:2; Isaiah 9:6).
2.
The Bible teaches that Christ, although He was fully God, permanently took
upon Himself sinless and undiminished humanity at the time of the incarnation.
During His earthly ministry Christ temporarily gave up the voluntary use
of certain attributes for the purpose of providing salvation (Philippians
2:5-7). In the hypostatic union of Christ’s two natures He did not
lose nor diminish His deity. As well, the humanity, which Christ
took upon himself, was not diminished or lessened.
3.
Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35).
At the incarnation Christ partook of perfect humanity while at the same
time being preserved from any taint of sin.
4.
Jesus Christ has always been sinless and it has always been impossible
for Him to sin (1 John 3:5; 1 Peter 2:22).
5.
Jesus Christ rose again (a bodily resurrection - see Luke 24:39) from the
dead after three days (1 Corinthians 15:4) fully paying sin's consequence
(Romans 5:25).
6.
Forty-days after Christ’s resurrection He ascended to heaven and is presently
our Advocate (1 John 2:1), Intercessor (Romans 8:34), High Priest (Hebrews
8:1), and Head of the Church (Ephesians 1:22).
7.
Salvation is only through the person of Jesus Christ (John 3:16; 14:6;
1 Timothy 2:5).
8.
Jesus Christ will come again in fulfillment of Bible prophecy (Acts 1:11).
