What
We Believe About Angels
1.
Angels have been created by God (Colossians 1:16; Psalms 148:2,5).
2.
Angels are spirit beings (Psalm 104:4). Angels do not have a material body
(Luke 24:39).
3.
Angels are not omniscient (Matthew 24:36).
4.
Angels are not omnipresent (they are created beings).
5.
Angels were created without sin (Ezekiel 28:15).
6.
Prior to the fall of man Lucifer led a rebellion against God. Lucifer
“the Shining One” then became Satan “the Adversary” and the rebelling angels
became demons (also called "unclean spirits" Matthew 10:1). This
rebellion is described in Ezekiel 28:12-19 and in Isaiah 14:12-15.
7.
Ministry of Good Angels.
a)
Angels glorify Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:6).
b)
Angels worship God (Isaiah 6:3).
c)
Angels serve God (Luke 1:26; 22:43; Matthew 28:2).
d)
Angels minister to believers (Hebrews 1:14).
8.
Operations of Fallen Angels.
a)
Under the leadership of Satan demons attempt to withstand the work of God
(1 Thessalonians 2:18; Daniel 10:12,13).
b)
Demons can possess unsaved men (Matthew 4:24). Demonic possession is the
act of a demon or demons inhabiting the body of a person and taking control
of his mind and body. Believers cannot be demon possessed or partially
controlled” by demons (1 John 4:4).
c)
Demons can inflict disease on men (Matthew 9:32,33). However,
not all disease is caused by demons (a distinction is made in Acts 5:16).
d)
Demons can possess animals (Mark 5:13).
e)
Demons attempt to withstand the spiritual growth of Christians (Ephesians
6:12).
f)
Demons disseminate false doctrine (I Timothy 4:1).
9.
The Destiny of Fallen Angels.
a)
Satan and all fallen angels will eventually be consigned to eternal torment
in Hell (Revelation 20:10; Matthew 25:41).
